Sunshine Minds is the result of over 25 years experience working in the community sector.

 

We currently delivery Specialist Behaviour Support and Counselling  services in the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads regions

Behaviour Support Practitioner / Counsellor - Luke McDonald

Luke  has worked in the Community sector since 1996, he has a passion for helping people resolve current and past issues relating to mental illness. He has appeared on National television and across numerous mainstream newspapers. He was an elected member of the State Council for Queenslands Mental Health peak body Queensland Alliance and was part of the advisory group that developed the National Mental Health First Aid Training for Gambling Addictions.



Luke is a member of the Australian Counselling Association, Behaviour Support Practitioners Australia and has worked for over 6 years as a Lead trainer for delivery of the National Mental Health First Aid program, his Mental Health work is influenced by the thoughts and works of Ron Coleman, Patricia Deegan, Richard Bandler and Steve Andreas.

Behaviour Support Practitioner, Clinical and Operations Supervisor - Laurie Perkins

Laurie Perkins is a highly sought out NDIS expert. She was part of the governments roll out of the  NDIS readiness scheme and was educating families and organisations about the NDIS in Queensland 2 years before it started. She is a Clinical Counselling supervisor and supervises all Sunshine Minds staff. On top of this Laurie has a small number of clients she provides Recovery Coaching and Counselling services.

Recovery Coach - Support Worker Nicole McDonald

Nicole has over 10 years experience in the community sector beginning with Administrative and Operations support to a Community services training organisation  before becoming a support worker to people with a range of disabilities and now a Mental Health Recovery Coach.

She is artistic, has a kind, friendly and hard working nature which makes her an excellent community worker and a pleasure to work with.

Support Worker - Steve Perkins

Steve has worked in the community sector for 10 years mainly doing support work and has recently started offering Recovery Coaching.Steve enables and empowers people with disabilities to participate positively in all aspects of life. Steve believes that utilising a Person Centred Active Support is a rewarding way of working - both for the people he supports and our team. Steve  is a qualified Disability Support Worker who likes -Fishing, Swimming, Motor bike riding, Bush Trekking, Beach Walking and Gardening
